Posted on October 18 2019

The first of a series of Thematic Evenings at the SEP Boutique will take place on November 7th, 2019. You will hear the stories of three female entrepreneurs based in Geneva, brainstorm and discuss about opportunities and challenges as well as enjoy an ethical shopping opportunity.

A Celebration of Female Entrepreneurs Event

Not every SEPper will be in Geneva on November 7th, so here is a bit of a summary of what will be in store: let us know if you would like to ask questions or listen-in remotely!

Meet Three Female Entrepreneurs:

The discovery of the stories behind the labels and the missions and visions of our guests will be driven by Celine El Debs, a moderator who is uniquely positioned to make the evening special. A banker with 25 years of experience in Swiss asset management, Celine knows all three guests very well and is an avid SEPper, with a passion for positive social impact.

Karine El Debs, founder of Bikram Yoga Geneve

 Karine El Debs

Karine El Debs is a graduate of HEC Lausanne with over ten years experience in banking, Hedge Funds. She discovered Bikram while living in Ireland. She fell in love with the practice and decided to become a teacher in 2008, with Bikram Choudhury.

She left the world of banking behind and opened the first Bikram Yoga Studio in Geneva: she could not imagine being back in her city without Bikram. Karine believes in the method and power of the incredible sequence of yoga poses: she is passionate about introducing others to this incredible practice. Karine does not often talk about her vision, her story, the challenges and opportunities: we are fortunate to have her on November 7th!

Vanja Jocic, founder of By Vanja Jocic

Vanja Jocic

Vanja Jocic, the creative energy behind the label. She's an Australian of Bosnian heritage. Vanja developed her interest in fashion from an early age, as she recalls spending many summer vacations redesigning her mother’s clothes into summer dresses and making clay jewellery in the kitchen oven.

After spending many years building a corporate career, Vanja decided to honour her creative energy and swap a corporate office for a creative studio. She had a privileged opportunity to learn the craft of millinery at Prudence Millinery studio. After living in London, Melbourne and Rio de Janeiro decided to call Geneva home. Her "Hope" collaboration with SEP Jordan is taking the hand-made hats world by storm: find out why she decided to work with SEP and how she does it!

Roberta Ventura, founder of SEP Jordan

Roberta Ventura

Roberta Ventura, the founder of SEP Jordan, has a twenty-year past in Investment Banking and Asset Management and a Degree with Hons in Business Administration from Bocconi University.

The seed for SEP Jordan was planted in 1997 when she visited her first refugee camp. She became fixated with the alerting issues faced by displaced populations. With the situation getting worse year after year, she decided to create SEP Jordan in 2014.

SEP was created with the mission of bringing thousands of artists who are refugees above the poverty line; through embroidery, they bring back dignity and economic and emotional independence in refugee camps, thereby changing the world’s perception of refugees and the refugees' perception of the world.

Remember, we have limited space so please register for the event by emailing Noof, the organiser of the event at: alshammary@sepjordan.com - see you soon at the SEP Boutique in 31, Rue Vautier - Carouge!
