This cushion dresses up your lounge or bedroom bringing harmony to your space with its rough linen texture and earthy tone. Our Poppy floral pattern is very popular and appears throughout our entire Home product line: tablecloths, duvet covers, bread baskets, aprons, placemats and napkins. It evokes a natural sense of beauty, calm, all the while bringing a modern touch to any room.
The SEP Poppy motif recalls a traditional pattern from the village of al-Majdal or al-Majdal Asqalan, an ancient seaport of Ashkelon dating back to the Neolithic Age. Throughout its history, it was ruled by Ancient Egyptians, the Canaanites, the Philistines, the Assyrians, the Babylonians, the Greeks, the Phoenicians, the Hasmoneans, the Romans, the Persians, the Arabs and the Crusaders, until it was ultimately destroyed by the Mamluks in 1270. Not until the late 15th century did the village of al-Majdal become established under Ottoman rule. By 1920, it became part of Mandatory Palestine.
