SEP TALKS GENEVA Confederation Centre #2: Soha Bechara
Posted on September 27 2023
đSoha Bechara SEP Talk: significant themes were covered by iconic Soha Bechara, including her own views on "freedom" and "resistance".
The SEP community had the chance to see live several of the crafts which left Khiam Prison with her or before her; they are the symbol of how prisoners were preserving their humanity through embroidery and crochet. "Never was embroidery about killing time: it was the way we could preserve our humanity!".
Soha's calm, her wisdom and her clear recollections captivated the audience: you don't often meet someone who survived 10 years in an Israeli prison, most of which in confinement, and still has the energy to tell the tale!
"Creation was there to preserve our humanity, preserve the history of each inmate. And even more as a woman, because no one was going to tell our stories, as women." Soha Bechara, SEP TALK 2023
